This is a unique little work of art. It appears to be a an old print or pen & ink drawing, and hand-coloured with gouache or watercolour paint. The detail is fine, nothing was missed, especially in the attention paid to her hair and clothing. The background has fine stippling that seem to make clouds. It is in its original wooden frame which has lovely embossed designs around the perimeter, and it is under the original glass. We do not know the exact age, but estimate it to be turn of the century. It appears that this was at on time a top/lid for a bottle, and the painting can be removed from the frame (see gallery). We think this would be perfect placed on a book on a table, as it beckons you to pick it up and study it up close. This woman's portrait is a little gem for sure and quite unusual.
DIMENSIONS: ARTWORK IS 1⅝" in diameter, 2⅜" including frame. ⅜" deep (about the exact same diameter of a 16oz water bottle's base).
